I've been at Camp for two weeks now...

no cell phone, no internet, no air conditioning for us Eagle Quest-ers,

lots of backpacking (5 nights), lots of training, lots of new friends, a life-guard certification, ...interesting...wild-life experiences, cool fireflies, lots of fun and throwing the frisbee

This is awesome.

I was walking down trail in the middle of our time in the backcountry and I thought to myself ,"Man, I would love to work here." And then I thought to myself, " I do work here!"

Epiphanies are fun.

I still miss Henry and my family and the girls. But God is here too, and He's given me more strength than I thought I had.

Sweet.

It has been one month since I last posted. cool.

Last week Jess and Jo came to visit me at John Brown. Yay!!!!!! I did abandon them most of Thursday to finish my lab notebook for Genetics (yes! It is finished!), but we got to hang out Friday night. We ate Thai food. I had red curry. It made my nose drippy. Then we went over to the Dupe and played the Wii--so much fun! We bowled and played tennis and boxed. The girls beat up on the guys in boxing. There are pictures. And a very funny video of Jordan boxing in a skirt.

SPRING BREAK!!!!!

I am presently at A&M enjoying the company of Kara and Jordan (two of my favoritist people). I have gone to a class and slept and eaten waaaay to many of some amazing brownies and have been to the coolest coffee shop ever and lain (<----- I hate this verb and all of its tenses) in the grass and written a letter (with pictures!) to a boy from Oklahoma (whom I miss) who is presently snowboarding in Colorado and talked and rested and walked around and eaten good food and met cool people and modge-podged a vase and hugged good friends.

My place is with the people I love. Thank You God for people to love and be loved by.

I went to Mardi Gras this weekend, the tournament, that is.

Scenario #1:

David, Rex, Henry, and I

Ryan Likes' car

43 degrees

the drivers' side window does not roll up. at all.

This = cold.

This also = David (who was driving at the time) with a bandana over his mouth and nose, hood on, dark jacket over that + 3 people in sleepingbags (yes, it was that cold. definitely necessary.) in the passenger and backseat. Probably definitely looked like a creepy man in an old car with three body bags. Probably definitely. We laughed.

Scenario #2:

the guys stayed at "The Fountain Motel" aka The Roach Motel (as Rex aptly named it.)

Scenario #3:

57 teams playing ultimate frisbee at a huge soccer complex in Baton Rouge = amazing.

15 JBU guys, 5 JBU girls, 4 parents, 1 van, 4 cars, all playing/watching/cheering for JBU ultimate frisbee = love it!

Scenario #4:

Despite its similarity to my surname, Shoney's is a pretty dissappointing place.

Scenario #5:

Same as #1 minus good brakes. ha. even more fun to be had!

I didn't realize how protected in prayer we were until I got back and people kept saying things like "I'm so glad to see you guys!" "I thought you had died or something!" "I heard about what happened and I was praying for all of you."

Scenario #6: God is really good.

I'm tired. And I really, really, really, really, really don't want to spend another Friday night in the Genetics lab. Four in a row, I believe. Oh well, I also get to be a part of a TWIRP date with a group of fun people, which will hopefully counteract my diminishing social skills. This has been a really hard week, lots of heavy things to think about. One of the hardest and best weeks of my life, probably.

Closing Time?

Maybe it is. Or maybe I'll just think about it and let xanga continue to die a slow death. Funny how things like this change. It's not abrupt, but slowly things that were once important become less important, and things that I couldn't foresee change in have changed. Life moves, and I move and change with it. I am glad of the changes. I am glad I am who I am where I am right now. I'm glad to be moving and changing still, always. It is good. It is healthy. Permanence and change. Some things have changed. Some things have stayed. Some things have changed to stay. It is good. It is good to be alive and to be in motion. It is good to rest in that.
